From Pastor's Desk at St. Peter's Chester Springs
Pastor Ronald P. Wesemann
St. Peter’s is a wonderful church home for my wife and my self and
for a committed group of faithful and loving Christians of all ages. Ministry
with and among these people is a joy.
2010 was a year of great challenges and successes. We took on the
challenge of achieving a balanced budget and replacing the “yellowed” plastic
covering that protected our stained glass windows and repairing some bulges in
those windows. We did not balance our budget as we hoped, but we were able to
complete and finance the stained glass window project in less time than we
expected and reduce our budget deficit. Other challenges that we took on
included redesigning our website, putting together a concert series and
replacing our organist/music director. Here we were successful on all counts. We
had two concert series and Gabriel Rebolla took over for Joao Paulo Casarotti
and has turned out to be an excellent organist, pianist and music director.
St. Peter’s continues to be a small but growing congregation. The growth of our church can be attributed to the invitations
made by our members to their neighbors and friends, and the result of the
welcome extended to those who visit the church. This is a good thing. It shows
the love that our members have for the church and the power of a loving,
welcoming community.
St. Peter’s in 2011 will again face some strong challenges. We are
getting closer each year but we still need to balance our budget. Our Church
needs to be painted and we have made it our goal to have this completed in 2011.
This year we are also planning a grand celebration in honor of the 240
anniversary of our congregation, a dinner dance with silent auction and prize
baskets. It is our hope that the community will join us in this celebration. We
are also planning a new series of concerts involving world renowned and local
musicians. In faith and maybe even with greater enthusiasm, we are planning to continue
our support of other ministries like Mom’s House, PACS, St. Mary’s and the Good
Samaritan Shelters and the Southeastern Pennsylvania
Synod
For those who are looking for a place of
worship, Christian education opportunities,
a chance to help others and for a church home, I invite you to visit us in
person. The worship times, Sunday school schedule and directions to the church
can be found within the website. Feel free to contact me.
